Console and PC release information

GTA 6 Console and PC Release Information: Release Date, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC Version and Everything We Know

Grand Theft Auto VI is approaching one of the biggest video game launches in years, and one of the most common questions players are asking is simple: when will GTA 6 be released on console and PC?

Rockstar Games has now confirmed a precise release date for the console version of GTA 6. However, the situation is different for PC players. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S owners have a confirmed launch date, while Rockstar has not yet announced a GTA 6 PC release date.

That distinction is important because searches for terms such as GTA 6 release date, GTA 6 PC release date, GTA 6 PS5 release date, GTA 6 Xbox release date, GTA VI platforms, GTA 6 pre-load date, and when is GTA 6 coming to PC will continue increasing as launch approaches.

This guide explains everything currently confirmed about the GTA 6 console and PC release, which platforms will receive the game first, what PC players should expect, pre-loading information, editions, compatibility, and what could happen after the console launch.

GTA 6 Release Date

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026.

The confirmed launch platforms are:

• PlayStation 5
• Xbox Series X
• Xbox Series S

Rockstar Games currently presents November 19, 2026 as the official launch date for these console versions.

That means GTA 6 is currently scheduled to arrive simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S rather than launching first on one console family.

For millions of players, the countdown is therefore focused on Thursday, November 19, 2026.

GTA 6 Platforms Confirmed for Launch

Rockstar has officially confirmed GTA 6 for the current generation of PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Confirmed GTA 6 platforms

PlayStation 5

Xbox Series X

Xbox Series S

A PC version has not been officially dated.

Older consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are also not part of the announced launch platforms.

This makes GTA 6 a current-generation release designed around substantially more powerful hardware than the systems available when Grand Theft Auto V originally launched.

Is GTA 6 Coming to PS5?

Yes.

GTA 6 is officially coming to PlayStation 5 on November 19, 2026.

PS5 players will be able to experience Rockstar’s new interpretation of Vice City and the wider state of Leonida from launch day.

Rockstar’s official GTA VI material has heavily featured PlayStation 5, and the game is available for pre-order on the platform.

For PlayStation players searching for a GTA 6 PS5 release date, the important information is therefore:

GTA 6 PS5 release date: November 19, 2026

Is GTA 6 Coming to PS5 Pro?

GTA 6 is being released for the PlayStation 5 family, meaning PS5 Pro owners will be able to play the PlayStation 5 version.

The more interesting question is how the game may use the additional performance available on PS5 Pro.

Potential differences could involve areas such as:

• Image quality
• Resolution
• Visual detail
• Ray-tracing features
• Performance stability
• Upscaling
• Draw distance

However, players should separate general hardware expectations from officially confirmed GTA 6 specifications.

The exact technical differences between GTA 6 running on different PS5 hardware configurations should only be treated as confirmed when Rockstar or Sony publishes detailed performance information.

Is GTA 6 Coming to Xbox Series X?

Yes.

GTA 6 will launch on Xbox Series X on November 19, 2026.

Xbox Series X is one of the officially supported launch platforms.

Players using Microsoft’s higher-powered current-generation Xbox system will therefore receive GTA 6 on the same date as PlayStation 5 players.

There is currently no separate delayed release date for Xbox Series X.

Is GTA 6 Coming to Xbox Series S?

Yes.

Rockstar has officially confirmed Xbox Series S as a supported GTA 6 platform.

This is significant because the Series S has less powerful hardware than the Xbox Series X.

Developing a massive open-world game for multiple console configurations can require extensive optimization, particularly when a game contains dense environments, traffic, characters, physics, interiors, lighting systems and complex simulations.

Nevertheless, Xbox Series S remains part of the official GTA 6 platform lineup.

Unless Rockstar announces otherwise, Series S owners should expect access to GTA 6 alongside Xbox Series X and PS5 players on November 19, 2026.

Will GTA 6 Be Released on PS4?

There is currently no announced PlayStation 4 version of GTA 6.

Rockstar’s confirmed platforms focus on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

That is not especially surprising.

The PlayStation 4 generation launched more than a decade before GTA 6’s scheduled release. GTA 6 appears to be designed around modern hardware and a considerably more ambitious open world than previous entries.

Players still using PS4 should therefore not assume that a PS4 version will eventually appear unless Rockstar specifically announces one.

For now:

GTA 6 PS4: Not announced

GTA 6 PS5: Confirmed

Will GTA 6 Be Released on Xbox One?

An Xbox One edition has not been announced either.

The confirmed Xbox versions are:

• Xbox Series X
• Xbox Series S

Xbox One does not appear in Rockstar’s current GTA 6 launch platform list.

Players wanting GTA 6 on Xbox should therefore plan around an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S unless Rockstar announces another option in the future.

GTA 6 PC Release Date

This is where the situation becomes much more interesting.

As of September 28, 2026, Rockstar Games has not announced an official GTA 6 PC release date.

The confirmed November 19, 2026 launch applies to:

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

PC is currently absent from Rockstar’s official GTA 6 platform list.

Therefore, any website or social media post claiming to know an exact GTA 6 PC release date should be treated carefully unless the information comes from an official Rockstar or Take-Two announcement.

At the moment:

GTA 6 console release date

November 19, 2026

GTA 6 PC release date

Not officially announced

That is currently the most accurate answer.

Is GTA 6 Coming to PC?

Rockstar has not yet announced the PC version or its release date.

However, a future PC release would be consistent with Rockstar’s history of bringing major Grand Theft Auto titles to PC.

That does not mean players should treat a PC edition as officially confirmed before Rockstar announces it.

The safest distinction is:

Console release: officially confirmed.

PC release date: not officially confirmed.

That wording matters because rumors surrounding GTA 6 can spread extremely quickly.

As launch approaches, supposed screenshots, release dates, system requirements, storefront listings and insider claims may appear online.

Until Rockstar provides confirmation, they remain unofficial.

Why Isn’t GTA 6 Launching on PC at the Same Time?

Rockstar has not published a complete technical explanation specifically detailing why GTA 6 does not currently have a simultaneous PC launch.

However, PC development creates challenges that differ significantly from console development.

A console has a tightly controlled hardware environment.

PC players may use thousands of different combinations of:

• CPUs
• GPUs
• RAM configurations
• SSDs
• Displays
• Drivers
• Windows settings
• Peripheral devices
• Background applications

Optimizing a massive open-world game across such a wide range of systems can require considerable testing.

PC releases may also involve additional graphical settings, display options, control configurations and compatibility work.

Until Rockstar discusses its GTA 6 PC strategy directly, though, these considerations should not be confused with an official explanation for the absence of a PC release date.

When Could GTA 6 Come to PC?

There is currently no official answer.

Historical Rockstar release patterns can provide context, but they cannot establish the GTA 6 PC release date.

Grand Theft Auto V originally launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013.

Its PC version arrived in April 2015.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, followed by a PC release in November 2019.

Those previous launches demonstrate that Rockstar has previously released PC editions after console versions.

However, GTA 6 is a different game being released in a different generation.

Rockstar could follow a similar strategy, shorten the gap, lengthen it or take a completely different approach.

Therefore, predicting a specific month for GTA 6 PC would currently be speculation.

GTA 6 PC Release Could Become One of the Biggest PC Launches Ever

Whenever a GTA 6 PC edition eventually arrives, demand could be enormous.

PC gaming has expanded significantly since GTA V first appeared on computers.

A PC version could potentially appeal to users looking for:

• Higher resolutions
• Ultrawide displays
• High refresh rates
• Advanced graphics settings
• Mouse and keyboard controls
• Powerful gaming hardware
• Future modding possibilities

What features will actually be supported remains unknown.

Rockstar has not yet published GTA 6 PC specifications or PC-specific graphical features.

GTA 6 PC System Requirements

Official GTA 6 PC system requirements have not been announced.

Any minimum or recommended specifications currently circulating online should therefore be considered estimates rather than confirmed requirements.

Players frequently search for questions such as:

How much RAM will GTA 6 require?

What GPU will GTA 6 need?

Can my PC run GTA 6?

Will GTA 6 require an SSD?

How much storage will GTA 6 need on PC?

Those questions cannot yet be answered definitively.

Rockstar would normally need to announce the PC version before publishing official minimum and recommended specifications.

When system requirements eventually become available, several components will be particularly important.

Processor

Large open-world games can place substantial demands on the CPU due to AI, traffic, physics, characters and environmental simulation.

Graphics card

GTA 6’s visual ambitions may make GPU performance one of the most important factors for PC users.

RAM

Modern open-world games often require significant memory, but Rockstar has not announced GTA 6’s PC RAM requirements.

SSD

Fast storage has become increasingly important in modern game design.

However, official GTA 6 PC storage requirements remain unavailable.

Storage space

Players should avoid relying on unofficial file-size claims until Rockstar publishes actual installation requirements.

GTA 6 Pre-Load Date

Console players will not necessarily need to wait until launch day to begin downloading the game.

Rockstar has announced that GTA 6 pre-loading begins November 12, 2026 for eligible console versions.

That is exactly one week before the November 19 release.

For a game expected to attract enormous launch-day traffic, pre-loading could be particularly useful.

Players with slower internet connections may want to begin downloading as soon as their platform permits it.

The important dates are therefore:

November 12, 2026 — GTA 6 pre-loading begins

November 19, 2026 — GTA 6 launches

What Time Will GTA 6 Release?

Rockstar has confirmed the November 19 launch date, while specific availability can depend on platform, region and local release arrangements.

Players should check their console’s countdown closer to release for the exact unlock time associated with their account and location.

Digital stores typically display a countdown as launch approaches.

Because regional timing can matter, players should avoid assuming that an unlock time posted by someone in another country necessarily applies to them.

GTA 6 Physical Edition

Rockstar is also offering physical retail packaging for GTA 6.

An unusual detail is that Rockstar’s currently described physical package contains a download code rather than a game disc.

The boxed version is scheduled to become available starting November 12, allowing buyers to redeem the code and begin pre-loading before launch.

That distinction may matter to collectors and players expecting a traditional disc inside the box.

Before purchasing, buyers should therefore pay attention to exactly what a specific edition contains.

GTA 6 Standard Edition

The Standard Edition provides access to the main GTA 6 experience.

For many players, this will be the straightforward version to purchase.

Rockstar has also created an Ultimate Edition for players who want additional content.

GTA 6 Ultimate Edition

GTA 6 will also be sold in an Ultimate Edition.

This version contains additional premium content connected to the GTA 6 experience.

Players who initially purchase the Standard Edition can also purchase an Ultimate Edition upgrade separately.

The availability of an upgrade means players do not necessarily need to decide immediately whether they want the higher-tier package.

How Much Does GTA 6 Cost?

Rockstar and Take-Two announced a $79.99 US starting price for GTA 6.

Regional prices can vary because of currencies, taxes and local storefront policies.

Players should therefore check the price shown by their own PlayStation or Xbox store rather than converting the US price directly.

Different editions also have different prices.

GTA 6 Digital vs Physical: Which Version Should You Choose?

The ideal format depends on what a player values.

Digital version advantages

Digital copies can be convenient because the game is connected directly to the player’s console account.

Pre-loading can also make launch-day access easier.

Physical package advantages

Some players prefer having a boxed item as part of their collection.

However, GTA 6 buyers should note the important difference with the currently announced physical package: Rockstar describes the box as containing a download code rather than a traditional game disc.

That makes GTA 6’s physical offering somewhat different from the classic disc-based format many console players expect.

Will GTA 6 Support Cross-Platform Play?

Rockstar has not yet provided complete details regarding cross-platform functionality for GTA 6.

Players should therefore avoid treating cross-play claims as confirmed.

It is also important to distinguish between the main GTA 6 single-player experience and any future connected or online components.

Features involving multiplayer compatibility may be announced separately.

Will GTA 6 Have Cross-Save or Cross-Progression?

There is currently no complete official announcement explaining GTA 6 cross-save or cross-progression support.

These features could become important if players eventually want to move between platforms.

For example, a player might begin on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S and later consider switching to PC.

Whether progress could transfer between those versions would depend on Rockstar’s account and platform systems.

Until Rockstar announces those details, players should not assume their progress will automatically move from console to PC.

GTA 6 on Steam

No official GTA 6 PC release has been dated, so players should also avoid assuming a specific PC storefront.

That includes speculation surrounding Steam or other PC distribution platforms.

A future PC announcement would likely provide exact information about:

• Release date
• Supported stores
• Pre-orders
• Pricing
• Editions
• System requirements
• Pre-loading
• Rockstar account requirements

Until then, supposed GTA 6 PC listings should be viewed cautiously.

GTA 6 on Steam Deck

There is currently no official GTA 6 Steam Deck compatibility information.

Because the PC version itself has not received an official release date, reliable Steam Deck compatibility information cannot yet exist.

Performance would depend on several factors, including:

• Final PC system requirements
• Graphics scalability
• CPU demands
• GPU demands
• Memory requirements
• Storage requirements
• Rockstar launcher compatibility
• Optimization

Players should wait for an actual PC announcement before drawing conclusions.

GTA 6 on Nintendo Switch 2

Rockstar currently lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for GTA 6.

A Nintendo Switch 2 version has not been announced.

That does not prove that another version could never happen, but there is currently no official GTA 6 Switch 2 release date.

For now:

PS5 — Confirmed

Xbox Series X — Confirmed

Xbox Series S — Confirmed

PC — No official release date

Nintendo Switch 2 — Not announced

PS4 — Not announced

Xbox One — Not announced

GTA 6 Console Performance

One of the biggest questions surrounding GTA 6 is how the game will perform on current-generation consoles.

Players want to know whether GTA 6 will offer options such as:

• 30 FPS quality mode
• 60 FPS performance mode
• Variable refresh rate
• Ray tracing
• 4K output
• Performance presets

Technical expectations have generated significant discussion, but players should wait for official performance specifications before assuming particular frame-rate or resolution targets.

Large open-world games can be demanding because performance depends on much more than visual resolution.

A game such as GTA 6 may have to process traffic, NPC behavior, physics, environmental systems, lighting and streaming simultaneously.

Why GTA 6 Is Technically Ambitious

Rockstar is building GTA 6 around a fictional state called Leonida, including a modern interpretation of Vice City.

The footage and official material released so far show a world filled with:

• Dense urban environments
• Beaches
• Highways
• Nightlife areas
• Rural environments
• Wildlife
• Vehicles
• Crowds
• Weather effects
• Detailed interiors and locations

All of those elements can contribute to computational demands.

GTA 6 is not simply about rendering attractive graphics. A convincing open world also depends on simulation.

How pedestrians react, how vehicles behave, how the world streams around the player and how environmental systems interact can be just as important as raw graphical detail.

Should PC Players Buy a Console for GTA 6?

That depends entirely on how urgently someone wants to play GTA 6.

Players who already own a PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S have a confirmed way to access the game on November 19, 2026.

PC-only players face a different decision because Rockstar has not announced when a PC version will arrive.

Some may choose to wait.

Others may decide that playing at launch is important enough to use one of the supported console platforms.

There is no need to make that decision based on an unofficial PC release rumor.

Rockstar’s future announcements should eventually provide clearer information.

Could GTA 6 Console and PC Versions Be Different?

Potentially, but nothing specific should be assumed.

Historically, later PC releases of Rockstar games have sometimes included PC-specific visual or technical options.

GTA 6 could theoretically follow a similar path.

A PC edition might eventually offer settings involving:

• Texture quality
• Shadow quality
• Reflections
• Draw distance
• Anti-aliasing
• Ray tracing
• Resolution scaling
• Frame-rate limits
• Keyboard controls
• Ultrawide displays

But none of those GTA 6 PC options are currently confirmed.

Players should distinguish expected PC features from announced features.

GTA 6 PC Release Date Rumors: What Players Should Know

Interest in GTA 6 is so high that rumors can quickly become mistaken for facts.

A claim may begin with an anonymous post, get repeated on social media, appear in videos and eventually look official even when Rockstar has said nothing.

PC release rumors should therefore be divided into three categories.

Official information

Information published by Rockstar Games or Take-Two.

Credible reporting

Information reported by established publications based on identifiable sources, but which may still remain unofficial until Rockstar confirms it.

Rumor and speculation

Anonymous posts, supposed leaks, predictions and unsourced release dates.

For something as important as the GTA 6 PC release date, official confirmation should remain the standard.

Why GTA 6 PC Searches Will Increase After Console Launch

The question “When is GTA 6 coming to PC?” could become even more important after November 19.

Once console players begin exploring Leonida, PC players will see gameplay, comparisons and technical analysis across the internet.

Search demand could then shift from:

GTA 6 release date

toward searches such as:

GTA 6 PC release date

GTA 6 PC requirements

GTA 6 Steam release

GTA 6 PC specs

GTA 6 minimum requirements

GTA 6 recommended requirements

GTA 6 PC pre order

GTA 6 PC gameplay

For that reason, the PC release story is likely to remain one of the most closely watched GTA 6 topics even after the console edition launches.

Final Thoughts: GTA 6 Console and PC Release Information

The GTA 6 release picture is finally becoming much clearer.

Console players have a firm date:

November 19, 2026.

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are the officially confirmed launch platforms, with pre-loading scheduled to start on November 12.

PC players still have the biggest unanswered question.

Rockstar has not announced an official GTA 6 PC release date, official PC system requirements or detailed PC platform information.

Previous Rockstar games show that a later PC release is possible, but GTA 6 should be treated on its own terms rather than assuming history will repeat itself exactly.

As November 19 approaches, Rockstar is likely to reveal increasingly detailed information about the console launch, technical features and the wider GTA 6 experience.

For now, one distinction matters above all:

GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A GTA 6 PC release date has not yet been officially announced.
