GTA 6 Launch Trailer: Jason’s Past, Justice Song and Pre-Load Date

Rockstar Games released the official Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer on October 15, 2026, five weeks before the game arrives on November 19. The 90-second video was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5, shines a new light on Jason Duval’s past and debuts a brand-new song by French electronic duo Justice. Here is everything the trailer shows, and what it means for launch.

What the trailer shows

The launch trailer stays focused on the two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, as they get pulled deeper into a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida. Coverage of the trailer highlights several moments fans had not seen before:

  • Jason’s military past: the trailer suggests Jason left the armed forces under difficult circumstances, which complicates his return to civilian life and shapes his partnership with Lucia.
  • Lucia on parole: an ankle monitor is visible on Lucia, a strong hint that she is out of prison under supervision, which fits what Rockstar has already said about her time in Leonida Penitentiary.
  • Heists and chases: heist preparation, a bank job, shootouts, police chases and dirt bike scenes.
  • Vice City lifestyle: a boat ride, a convertible cruising down a highway and quieter romantic moments between the couple.

The trailer also brings back the familiar narrator voice from the GTA V trailers at the very end, a nod long-time fans quickly noticed. Rockstar keeps describing Leonida as the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, and the trailer leans hard into that contrast.

The song: Justice’s “Flower in a Hurricane”

Music has always been a big part of GTA trailers, and this one is no exception. The launch trailer debuts “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The track is part of GTA VI: The Album, which is available to pre-save. For context, the first two trailers used Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road” and The Pointer Sisters’ “Hot Together”.

How big was it?

According to PlayToEarn, the launch trailer reached about 13.8 million YouTube views and 1.1 million likes in its first eight hours or so. That is a huge number, but it is still below Trailer 2: Rockstar says the May 6, 2025 trailer was the biggest video launch of all time, with 475 million views across platforms in 24 hours. Xbox shared the trailer on its own channels about a week after the PlayStation-branded version, which opens with a “Plays Best on PS5” card as part of Sony’s marketing deal.

Still no PC version

What comes next

With the launch trailer out, the next big milestones are reviews and pre-load. Reports say review copies are going out around the end of October, so expect the review embargo to lift before November 19. Then pre-load opens on November 12. We will cover both here on GTA.media, alongside our GTA 6 essentials guide and full trailer history.
