GTA 6 Release Time: When Does GTA 6 Unlock in Your Time Zone?

GTA 6 Release Time: When Does GTA 6 Unlock in Your Time Zone?

GTA 6 comes out on Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games has confirmed the date and the pre-load, but it has not yet announced an exact unlock hour. The most likely scenario, based on how digital launches usually work on PlayStation and Xbox, is a midnight local time unlock. Here is what that means where you live. We will update this page as soon as Rockstar confirms the time.

GTA 6 release time: what is confirmed

Release date November 19, 2026 (confirmed)
Platforms PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (confirmed). No PC version announced.
Pre-load From November 12, 2026 for digital pre-orders and physical copies (confirmed)
Unlock hour Not announced yet. Midnight local time is the most likely scenario.

Expected GTA 6 unlock times by time zone

If Rockstar uses a midnight local time release, GTA 6 would unlock at 12:00 AM on November 19 in each region. If it uses a single global time instead, some regions would get the game on the evening of November 18. These are the two scenarios to watch:

Region Midnight local (most likely) If global midnight Eastern
US Eastern (New York, Toronto) Nov 19, 12:00 AM ET Nov 19, 12:00 AM ET
US Central (Chicago, Dallas) Nov 19, 12:00 AM CT Nov 18, 11:00 PM CT
US Mountain (Denver) Nov 19, 12:00 AM MT Nov 18, 10:00 PM MT
US Pacific (Los Angeles, Vancouver) Nov 19, 12:00 AM PT Nov 18, 9:00 PM PT
UK (London) Nov 19, 12:00 AM GMT Nov 19, 5:00 AM GMT
Central Europe (Paris, Berlin) Nov 19, 12:00 AM CET Nov 19, 6:00 AM CET
India Nov 19, 12:00 AM IST Nov 19, 10:30 AM IST
Australia East (Sydney) Nov 19, 12:00 AM AEDT Nov 19, 4:00 PM AEDT
New Zealand Nov 19, 12:00 AM NZDT Nov 19, 6:00 PM NZDT

With a midnight local release, players in New Zealand and Australia would be the first in the world to play, hours before Europe and North America.

How to play GTA 6 the second it unlocks

  1. Pre-order digitally or buy the physical version, which includes a download code.
  2. Pre-load from November 12 so the game is already installed. See our GTA 6 pre-load guide.
  3. Free up storage before pre-load opens. Rockstar has not published the official file size yet.
  4. Leave your console in rest mode so it can download the day-one patch automatically.
  5. Log in a few minutes early: servers are often busy at launch.

Can you play GTA 6 early?

Changing your console region or time zone to play early sometimes works for midnight local launches, but it can break your purchase, cause payment issues or go against platform rules. We do not recommend it. If you want to know the reviews before buying, they are reportedly expected on November 18; see our GTA 6 reviews page.
