GTA Online in 2026: How to Play, Platforms and What’s Next

GTA Online launched in October 2013 alongside GTA V and remains one of the most played online games in the world. With GTA 6 arriving on November 19, 2026, here is where GTA Online stands.

Platforms

• PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: the Expanded & Enhanced edition, released in March 2022, with improved graphics and loading.
• PC: an enhanced PC version with features from the current-gen console edition was released in 2025, alongside the older Legacy version.
• PS4 and Xbox One: online services for the last-gen versions were ended in December 2024.

Getting started

1. Create your character and finish the introductory missions.
2. Earn money through contact missions, heists and businesses (see our GTA Online money guide).
3. Buy an apartment or office to unlock heists and businesses.

GTA+

GTA+ is Rockstar’s paid membership for GTA Online, with monthly GTA$, exclusive vehicles and discounts. Digital GTA 6 pre-orders include one month of GTA+.

Will GTA Online continue after GTA 6?

Rockstar has not announced an end date for GTA Online or details of a GTA 6 online mode. We will update this guide as soon as Rockstar shares plans.
